We had a very eventful week since my last blog. Perhaps putting in writing that had a few projects in mind for the house was tempting fate! After a very stormy long weekend we have a bit of clean up to do. Not as much as some severely flood and storm damaged houses but more than the last flood in 2011. This time this storm took out a bird attracting native bottle brush bush, and it looks like we have a leak in our roof. We had to take out the carpet in Gavin's room (smelled really bad) and carpet in the study is also wet and have to be replaced. First of course the insurance will have to get sorted out and the roof will have to be repaired...

Why that bush only I don't know! |

The carpet smelled bad but Gavin slept through the whole night! |

The kids love helping to blow out candles! |
We celebrated Ben's birthday at Ted and Tricia's house. Tricia made an amazing pavlova. YUM!
Lachlan started Prep and Gavin started school a day later due to power outages and storm damage.
The boys have loved sharing Lachlan's room together. Our story time is now just a little different.

Well that's our week of adventure. Hopefully my next post will be a sample of the crochet I am working on (just the got books today) a tote completed and a bit of painting done.
Take care and stay dry!
Hi Dina, well done on your second post! Gav's floorboards look gorgeous, why don't you just keep them like that and forget the carpet? So much easier to clean and they look great. BTW cannot find a "followers" box to click on for your blog, you might need to add this. mel x
ReplyDeleteHi Mel, thx for the tip! I've added it now. Gav's floor for some weird reason had a hole drilled in it. That's what's under the book on the floor. My vivid imagination was picturing cockroaches coming up thru the hole! & the rest of the house has floating wooden floors so there is a difference in floor levels.
DeleteOh, that must have been a very bothersome day for you! The rain would pour once and it would leave your house partly broken, or worst, the whole structure. The good thing is that no one got hurt and you already had your house repaired. But always remember to check your house regularly, especially the roofs and the sidings. They are most prone to certain damages caused by the storm.

ReplyDeleteRoof leaks are nothing but a headache! Good thing you have insurance to take care of the roof repairs. Just check it once in a while, so that this inconvenience will stay away from you hopefully for good.

It's great to know that your house didn't suffer more damage than a leaking roof and a stinky carpet. You were spared from a more expensive water damage repair. And since Gavin couldn't use his flooded room in the mean time, the brothers looked like they're camping in the other room. I can see they're having fun!
