Time for everything

Well I am a bit late with my blog but I have good reason.  I've been busy catching up with a few creative pursuits I've missed doing.

Last week I got a bit of Op shopping in and found this vintage decanter.  I actually saw it at the Woolloongabba Antique Centre for a lot more than what I paid for it.

I love the sunny orange colours and they are just the right size for the boys.
Another thing I was wanting was another pillow to add to the couch.  Ben has laid claim to the Sydney creation and says its his pillow.  I needed one to call my own so made it in a sateen cotton for myself.

Its not exactly the seaside feel I was aiming for but I love it all the same.

We've been having a busy time over here as the sun is shining more that its raining.  We even got to the beach although it was a bit rough and much of the sand was missing.  Our favourite beach was closed due to lack of "beach" and rough waves.  We still had a sensational time and the boys even did a bit of boogie boarding.

We also had time for tiggy (tag) and when I asked Lochy to pick a game to play I'd forgotten I'd had this on the shelf...

Luckily no one got the camera when it was my turn!

A walk in the park

One of my favourite walks
I love to walk along the river
It is a popular route for people to bike ride but I guess the rain scared them away

After dropping the kids at school I braved the rain and went for a walk along the river.  Despite the gray clouds it was a beautiful walk.  Its looks to me more like spring than autumn with all the flowers blooming.   Lucky for me I didn't get caught under any rain clouds and arrived home nice and dry.  I also found a sign that may remind you of somewhere in Canada.

I love the color of this flower and isnt it huge!
The tree is bursting with yellow!

The Lorikeets love the nector.

Fun in the rain

Despite the rainy weekend we had a fun and busy weekend.  The boys were busy catching up on all that playing they miss out on during the school week.  They were feeling so good they even started a band!  Not sure how the neighbours felt about that but hopefully they were out for the day.

Then of course Saturday afternoon Gav noticed we had a pool in our backyard!  We usually get one once we have a lot of rain falling for a long time.  They boys had a blast and got all dressed up to play in our "pool".   I didn't take any photos but we also had a lovely rainy day bike ride from our house.  The rain had a definate "chill" and I could feel the change of season to Autumn but it was wonderful to get out all the same.  The boys took aim for the puddles of course and we even found a playground nearbye we had never seen before.
Is that the cheesiest gin you've ever seen!
The boys love it.
I also had the chance to do a bit of sewing.  Its one of those things I've been meaning to do for ages.  Hubby approved the material, no pink or flowers, and I sewed a new couch cushion with his approval.  I do like this one much better than the last one I'd made.  Now I just have to pick material for another one.  Red perhaps?  What do you think?  He may just have to live with the second cushion being a bit more feminine.  Its ok, he'll get past it.

Yes, its Sydney with the opera house and all.

I love the look of total concentration on their faces.
